Hi! I’m Dan.
My trading journey began in 2008 as my secondary school Economics teacher encouraged his class of 16 year old first-time economics students to pitch, monitor and update the class on single bank stocks in the wake of the financial crisis. I was hooked; a year later I began studying at a university housing a (cutting-edge, at the time) physical trading floor sponsored by a local futures trading firm, whilst shaping my curriculum around a financial markets focus.
Since then, I’ve worked as an FX market-maker and proprietary trader for three major international banks from 2012-2023, running the FX Spot Trading desk and acting as the sole Material Risk Taker across FX Spot/Forwards/Options in the New York office at the latter institution, before repatriating to London in 2023 to run a $100mio portfolio at one of the largest global multi-manager macro hedge funds until late 2025.
I'm trying to do something a little different; to create what I believe to be the optimal conditions in which to patiently and systematically trade and scale my own capital, whilst retaining the parts of the institutional role that I truly enjoyed (taking risk, writing market commentary and teaching new traders). I’ve set up Beckford Capital Limited to house this trading activity within a corporate structure and give it room to scale. I’m 15 years into my professional trading journey and spend all of my time following markets, reading research and studying psychology. As I continue learning, I invite you to join me as I share thoughts, successes and disasters in real time and publish periodicals when I learn something new!
